Lyanna Mistwood

The Mistwood family has ruled Revia for over four hundred years. A crown passed from one son to the next, the kingdom was strong and the rulers beloved. Revians prospered for the first time since the Thorn Wars, when steel met magic on the battlefield for the first time. They cherished their newfound peace, placing their trust entirely in their rulers. For centuries, this worked out in their favor.

When Lyanna was born, the King was devastated. Kyon had been trying with his Queen Dia to have a baby for several years. When the child finally arrived and had the audacity to be female, he had his wife hanged publicly in a fit of madness and started openly using any whore who would take his coin, promising a crown to the first one who would bear him a son that could be legitimized later on.

The reputation of Kyon's desperation spread like wildfire. Not only did whores line up at his chamber doors for their chance to spread their legs for him, but the neighboring countries heard tales as well. It was all too easy to send a pretty mage in to destroy the king. He was slaughtered in his bed.

Revia was eager for a change and decided to keep the king's advisor Penn in charge until the princess came of age. A queen instead of a king seemed like a reasonable thing, and as a child she seemed to be intelligent and sane. The kingdom had high hopes for continuing their tradition of peace.

However, it was not to be.
